Parental leave can be taken immediately after maternity leave or later, i. e. until the end of the calendar year in which the child reaches the age of 6. It benefits both the mother and the father of the child. It shall be granted at the request of the staff member. The application must be submitted
with the employer at least 21 days before the start of the holiday. Parental leave is granted for 3 years. In the case of a disabled child, it is also possible to take additional parental leave of 3 years, not longer than until the child reaches the age of 18. Parental leave is free of charge and the beneficiary is subject to social insurance covered by the state budget. If you are on maternity leave and are in receipt of child benefit, you may apply for an allowance that you are entitled to for a period of time:
– 24 calendar months,
– 36 calendar months in the case of custody of more than one child born during a single birth,
– 72 calendar months in the case of custody of a child with disabilities.
