New border crossing rules

Minister Mariusz Kamiński has signed an amendment to the Regulation on temporary suspension or restriction of border traffic at specific border crossing points.

The amendment to the Regulation extends the catalogue of persons entitled to enter the territory of the Republic of Poland to include

  • drivers performing international transport, travelling through the territory of the Republic of Poland by means of transport other than the vehicle by which the road transport is performed (in order to take a rest or after taking a rest);
  • pupils and students studying in the Republic of Poland;
  • citizens of the Member States of the European Union, the European Economic Area (EEA) or the Swiss Confederation in order to travel through the territory of the Republic of Poland to their place of residence or stay (lasting not longer than 12 hours counted from the moment of crossing the border of the Republic of Poland) and their spouses and children.

These persons are exempt from quarantine under the Regulation of the Council of Ministers on the establishment of certain restrictions, orders and prohibitions in connection with the occurrence of a state of epidemic.

The need to include pupils and students among the categories of persons authorised to cross the state border results from the schedule of external exams adopted by the Ministry of National Education for pupils who graduated from Polish primary and secondary schools (in the period from 8 June to 28 August).

The Regulation shall enter into force on the day of its publication.
